On May 20, 2019 Chief Richard Trigo and Borough Council presented Departmental Awards to Fanwood Police Officers in recognition for outstanding service in 2019
On April 24, 2019 Patrolman Michael Rusin was the recipient of the Father Nelligan Award for his work for a check fraud bust that led to a larger fraud ring and arrests related to a murder, presented by Chief Richard Trigo. This annual Shield Award is presented by the Knights of Columbus, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church in Scotch Plains. This event is special because it brings together all police and volunteer first responders from both towns for recognition of their service to our communities.
On May 7, 2019 Patrolman Michael Rusin and Patrolman Elliott Bernard were recognized this evening by the Union County Municipal Alliance and the Scotch Plains Fanwood Municipal Alliance as the Scotch Plains Fanwood Volunteers of the Year. Patrolmans Rusin and Bernard tirelessly supporting SPF HS MAC on their days off. The Patrolmans were recognized the countless hours they spend at the High School working on various programs as well a Fanwood Police Department program “Ask A Cop.” Patrolman Rusin was presented the award by Karen Steele of the SPF Municipal Alliance this evening and accepted on behalf of himself and Patrolman Bernard who was not present.
