Project Child Safe

The Fanwood Police Department in conjunction with the US Department of Justice and the National Sports Shooters Foundation is pleased to announce Project Child Safe. We will be providing gun locks to Fanwood residents FREE. If you own a firearm, whether a handgun,  rifle or shotgun, we can provide you with a cable locking device to help you secure the weapon. The locks are available at police headquarters. You must be a resident and supplies are limited.

Fanwood Police Open Public Safety Information


With the help of the Quick Chek, 572 North Avenue, the Fanwood Police have opened a public safety info booth. The booth is full of helpful safety materials, handouts, pamphlets and children’s activity books. All of the materials are free of charge. The site will also host scheduled events from time to time. Plans to conduct children’s fingerprinting, bike rodeos, child safety seat inspections and much more will soon be announced.
